Sometimes
it would be difficult to understand the problem, the big
picture, but the company coordinator and project guides
were always available to put us back on track
The
project helped the Supply Management people (from the company)
to know us and our capabilities which in turn helped me
to get the summer internship.

SCRC web site is a resource loaded with helpful information.
The news, topic definitions, and project links presented on
the site are an integral part of my on-goingsupply chain management

"The
SCRC helped me get an internship, which led to a job offer.
They also hosted member companies on-site for interviews,
one of which led to the position I currently have (at Sonoco)."

Internships...

(My
Supply Chain Optimization Internship with Milliken) has
been a great opportunity to learn about what supply chain
issues real companies face, and gain an appreciation for
the complexity of these issues
My internship allows
me to travel to many manufacturing plants and interact with
a variety of people in a variety of different positions.

The
most valuable part of working on projects was developing skills
associated with time and task management. With a limited amount
of time to complete the project and satisfy stakeholders' needs
it was key to develop goals, document milestones, and communicate
on a regular basis
Working on a real world problem was a
great opportunity to apply my current skills in a different industry.
It was very challenging and rewarding to work with a diverse team
of students of different professional backgrounds and levels of
experience.
David Handley
Working
with these projects was sometimes difficult, but they were a very
valuable experience. Real world projects are rarely accomplished
"as scripted" - they're messy and require teamwork to
succeed
these project-related courses provided the hands-on
experience of working on real world projects for real companies.
They provided an environment to combine theory and practice, and
helped me develop skills and strategies that I'm already using
in my projects here at Sonoco.

"The project we did for John Deere provided me valuable
insights into the upstream aspects of SCM, especially the importance
of supplier integration and development, and warehousing issues."

I
(became) much more informed about one of the avenues that a new
SCM grad could take. (My internship) offered an excellent basis
for comparison as I looked for a full-time position later that year
comparing jobs, company culture, etc.
Jason Cox
"The Supply Chain Management concentration has given me the
opportunity to apply the lessons I've learned in class to real world
problems. I never would have expected such an open environment to
work in, but we have been able to gain unprecedented access to Fortune
500 companies such as John Deere. These projects are of significant
benefit to everyone involved including the firms, faculty, and students."
Evan Kesden
"As an international student, this has given me an exposure
and understanding of business operations in US. The fact that these
companies are highly committed and extremely willing to help was
seen in our first meeting where we had managers coming from all
functions, some from facilities located miles away, to brief us
about the project."
Meenakumari Jeyakumar
"Projects are the heart of the SCM concentration. Projects
provide students in the SCM concentration with hands on experience
on real life projects and a chance to experiment in class learning,
which further assist better understanding of the concepts."
