We are excited about our 15th Semi-Annual Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (SCRC) Meeting and are pleased to extend this invitation to you to participate. The meeting will take place on April 26th and 27th at the McKimmon Conference Center at NC State University in Raleigh, NC.
In December of 2006, we built our theme around the relationships aspect of managing the global supply chain. We took stock of the state of the profession in light of over two decades of global supply management via industry presenters, a thematic keynote presentation, and interactive panel discussion. For this meeting, we will be examining the global supply chain primarily from the physical perspective.
Our dependence upon global transportation, replete with myriad capacity issues and the real potential for the increasing occurrence of bottlenecks is having impacts on tactical decision making and should be influencing supply chain strategy and design. Inventory, customer service and other resources are also broadly impacted by the increasing global nature of supply networks. The focus of this meeting, “Sustaining the Global Supply Channel,” is an important theme as you seek to build, improve, or understand the customer’s perspective of a global supply chain organization. The meeting is a private forum for an open discussion of problems faced by executives with a common interest in driving change into their organizational supply chains. These managers, from diverse industries, work with the SCRC to impact their supply chains through focused improvement projects, education, recruitment of new talent, and benchmarking.
The meeting agenda will include:
- “Sustaining the Global Supply Channel” – Rob Handfield, SCRC
- Industry speakers: Richard Lolich, Maritime Administration, U.S. DOT; Jeff Townley, Nortel Networks; Rick Monical, Chevron Corporation
- Student project presentations with American Airlines, Bank of America, British Petroleum, Caterpillar, Chevron, Goodrich, IBM, and Nortel
- Interactive panel discussion focused on key issues and lessons learned from our global supply chain management experiences
- Networking opportunities
- Reception and dinner
We hope you can join us for our Spring SCRC meeting! If you have any further questions, please contact Rob Handfield at 843-367-4641 or Steve Edwards at 919-513-4487.
